Apparently there is a witch in the family. Not just any witch but the first woman to be accused and hung is Mike’s 9th great grandmother, Bridget Bishop. The town of Salem routinely puts on a play in which her trial is re-enacted based on court transcripts from the 1690’s. It was such a treat to have cousin Elizabeth Wilcox visit. We enjoyed the splendors of a whale watch, moody and misty Devereaux beach at sundown and some family history action in Salem.

Mike and Liz have loved reading his children’s books since they were wee ones. Stewart and Ella Sophia like him too. When we discovered there was an entire museum of his work, we were thrilled. And then to find out that he shows up on rare occasions to sign his books, we were extra excited. We drove out to the museum (which is out in the countryside) early on the morning of the signing in order to arrive before the doors opened. We heard there would be a line to get in. There was. Well worth the wait.
